The youth of today represent the future of hunting in the USA. Since 1986 The Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club has been a part of creating and offering Youth Hunting Camps. One of the oldest Youth Hunting programs in the country, the Minnesota Youth Hunt Camp is for boys and girls, 12-16 years old. Each session begins on a Sunday afternoon and ends on Friday afternoon. The sessions are action-packed, fun, educational and exciting. This is much more than a traditional Firearms Safety Course—this is an immersion into shooting, hunting and the great outdoors. You’ll experience archery and the use of shotguns, rifles, and pistols, with opportunities for both instruction and practice. You’ll learn to track, dog handle and identify various types of cover and vegetation. There will be exposure to safety ideas, techniques and practices, as well as adventure canoeing, swamp walking, tree climbing and scouting. Towards the end of your experience, you’ll take part in a real bird hunt and learn to shoot, clean and cook the birds. Maybe most important of all, you’ll make new friends, gain confidence in your outdoor abilities and learn the respect for wildlife and nature that hunters share worldwide. The campers are housed in the Club’s Hunter’s Lodge, a comfortable log building with sleeping room for up to 22, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a stone fireplace, and a popular gathering spot—an oversized private deck. The supervision of the camp is under the direction of the Minnesota Youth Hunt Club, a non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation. The Club carefully selects its staff from highly qualified, knowlegable individuals, many of whom have been through the Youth Camp themselves. The Director and Counselors are chosen and trained to help campers grow their skills, improve their techniques, gain outdoor experience and have save fun in the process. Tell us why you want to become a hunter, and we will make it happen. To be admitted to the Minnesota Hunt Camp, each young person must write a short essay explaining why they want to attend the camp. We only want young people with an interest in hunting and the great outdoors; the essay must reflect that. From the essays submitted, the young participants will be chosen. The cost for the camp is all-inclusive: ammo, guns, food, props, hunting, and lodging are included. The price for one session is $995.00. The Minnesota Youth Hunt Club has scholarships available for young people based on interest and need. The scholarships are typically for $995.00. Some parents strongly desire to help offset costs and this can be done by making a tax deductible donation to the Minnesota Youth Hunt Club for whatever amount they choose. Contact:
