Sporting Clays offers challenges to any shooter. There’s no better way to sharpen your eye for the hunting season, and many of our shooters use the courses in that way. However for many shooters, Sporting Clays have become the central focus of their gunning life. Sporting Clays courses are designed to mimic field hunting conditions, throwing a variety of target types in combination with varied terrain and shooting positions. Each station offers a different look at the target, forcing the shooter to make the kind of snap judgment required in an actual hunting situation. The Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club is the second oldest Sporting Clays course in the U.S. We offer five distinct courses, with each course presenting 50 targets per round. Opened in 1985 as one of the very first sporting clays courses built in this country we have consistently pioneered the industry in the advancement of the game. From the 1986 and 1987 U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship, 1989 National Sporting Clays Championship, to the 2002 U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship, to the 2006 FITASC World Championship, our commitment to the game has always been and continues to be unparalleled. CoursesThe Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club features the largest sporting clays course in the United States spread across hundreds of acres nestled in a combination of sloughs and fields and the setting of a big broadleaf forest. Five unique courses are designed to challenge shooters of all skill levels. EquipmentThe Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club uses Pro-Matic clay target throwers and White Flyer targets exclusively. CompetitionIf you want to put some friendly competition into the mix, The Club’s Sporting Clay Leagues are the largest in the county.
