Now entering its 29th year, the U.S. OPEN Pheasant Championship is the largest event in tournament hunting. With over 900 entries annually, competitions take place in a variety of classes including the Professional Class, Open Class, Top Gun Class, and Puppy, Senior Dog, Women’s, Junior, Over 50, Over 60, Mixed Doubles Classes, as well as Amateur competition. The U.S. OPEN is held at the Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club in Prior Lake, Minnesota, just south of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The event takes place over a four-day period beginning on a Thursday and ending on a Sunday.
The event will also include the U.S. OPEN Top Dog Showdown, which will take place on the Monday following the U.S. OPEN. This event will include 6 pointing dogs and 6 flushing dogs in a one run showdown to determine the Top Dogs of the Professional Classes for 2013-2014 season. The six entries will include the first and second place winners of the 2014 U.S. OPEN (if they have competed in at least seven NATHA events) and the top four point getters from the entire NATHA season of 2013-2014.
The 2014 U.S. Open Pheasant Championship will be held on April 3, 2014 to April 6, 2014 at the Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club. The Top Dog Showdown takes place on April 7, 2014. Please note, however, that these dates are subject to change.
