Now entering its 32nd year, the U.S. OPEN Pheasant Championship is the largest event in tournament hunting. With over 900 entries annually, competitions take place in a variety of classes for both pointer and flusher including the Professional Class, Open Class, Top Gun Class, Puppy, Senior Dog, Women’s, Junior, Over 50, Over 60, Mixed Doubles Classes, as well as Amateur competition. The U.S. OPEN is held at the Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club in Prior Lake, Minnesota, just south of Minneapolis/St. Paul. The event takes place over a four-day period beginning on a Thursday and ending on a Sunday.
The event will also include the U.S. OPEN Top Dog Showdown, which will take place on the Monday following the U.S. OPEN. This event will include 6 pointing dogs and 6 flushing dogs in a one run showdown to determine the Top Dogs of the Professional Classes for 2015-2016 season. The six entries will include the first and second place winners of the 2016 U.S. OPEN (if they have competed in at least eight NATHA events during the season) and the top four point getters from the entire NATHA season of 2015-2016.
The 2016 U.S. Open Pheasant Championship will be held on March 31st, April 1st, April 2nd and April 3rd; the Top Dog Showdown takes place on April 4, 2016.
